Install the KNIME AI Extension ​

Install the KNIME AI Extension to use large language models, create embeddings, build RAG pipelines, and create agentic workflows in KNIME.

When this is useful ​

Install the AI Extension when you want to:

  • Prompt large language models from KNIME workflows
  • Generate embeddings from text
  • Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines
  • Create agentic workflows using tools and data

Install the AI Extensions ​

You can install the KNIME AI Extensions in two ways.

Prerequisites

Option 1: Install from the KNIME Hub ​

  1. Open the KNIME AI Extension page on the KNIME Hub.
  2. Drag the extension entry from the Hub into your KNIME workspace.
  3. Follow the prompts to download and install the extension.
  4. Restart KNIME when prompted.

Option 2: Install from within KNIME Analytics Platform ​

  1. Open KNIME Analytics Platform.
  2. From the top menu, select File → Install KNIME Extensions….
  3. Search for AI Extension.
  4. Select KNIME AI Extension from the list.
  5. Follow the installation wizard and accept the license agreements.
  6. Restart KNIME when prompted.

Verify the installation ​

After restarting KNIME:

  1. Open the Node Repository.
  2. Search for nodes such as:
    • LLM Prompter
    • Text Embedder
    • Agent Prompter

If these nodes are available, the AI Extension is installed successfully.
