Components and metanodes

Components and metanodes both group part of a workflow into a single node.

  • A component bundles functionality into a node you can reuse and share. It can have its own configuration dialog and composite views, and it defines the pages of a data app.
  • A metanode collapses part of a workflow into a container to keep large workflows tidy. Unlike a component, it has no custom dialog or view and can't be shared.

Knime Analytics Platform guide

The detailed guide was written for Knime Analytics Platform and isn't yet adapted to Knime. See Components and Metanodes in Knime Analytics Platform to learn how to create, configure, and share them.

Share components with other users

Share components with everyone in your organization by sharing the space that contains them. Shared components appear in the node repository for all users while they edit a workflow.

To share a component:

  1. Create the component in a workflow.
  2. Create the shared component in a space.
  3. Share the space with your organization. Only team admins can share a space. See Publish a space to gallery.

Private gallery

If your organization has the private gallery add-on, sharing a space also publishes all of its other items to the private gallery, where everyone in your organization can see them.
