Data apps
A data app turns a workflow into a browser-based interactive application. Users run it in a browser tab without seeing the workflow.
Before you start
You need:
- Edit rights on a team space
Step 1 — Add Widget and View nodes
Widget nodes create the interactive controls your users see. View nodes display results.
Input widgets let users supply values at runtime. For example:
| Node | What it provides |
|---|---|
| String Widget | A text input field |
| Integer Widget | A number input |
| Single Selection Widget | A dropdown or radio buttons |
| Multi Selection Widget | Checkboxes |
| File Upload Widget | A file picker |
| Date&Time Widget | A date or time selector |
View nodes display results in the app. For example:
| Node | What it displays |
|---|---|
| Table View | An interactive data table |
| Bar Chart | A bar chart |
| Line Plot | A line chart |
| Image Output | A static image |
| File Download | A downloadable file link |
Connect widget and view nodes into the workflow logic.
Step 2 - Create a component
Components group workflow logic and create data app pages. The view and widget nodes inside a component are shown as single pages in the data app.
- Select the nodes to include
- Right click
- Select Create component
Step 3 — Configure the page layout
The layout editor controls how widgets and views are arranged in the data app page.
- Open the component.
- Click Layout editor in the top toolbar.
- Drag widgets and views into the layout grid.
- Add rows and column separators to organize the views.
- Change the aspect ratio of each view if needed.
- Click Apply to save the layout.
Step 4 — Create a version
You can only create deployments from a version of the workflow. See Create a version.
Step 5 — Deploy as a data app
- On the workflow page, click Deploy → Create data app.
- Enter a name for the deployment.
- Select an environment.
- Select the workflow version.
- Enter a category and description. They appear on the Data apps page, see Find and open a data app.
- Enable the desired email notifications.
- Select the deployment execution scope.
- Set the configuration options
- Click Create.
The data app appears in the Deployments section of the workflow page.
Step 6 — Share the data app
Other users can run the data app if you share the deployment with them.
- Click the three-dot menu on the deployment row.
- Select Manage access.
- Search for users, teams or groups and click Add.
- Copy the shareable link to the clipboard.
- Select who can run the data app with the link
- Restricted: only users manually added in the previous steps.
- Any signed-in users: every user, also from other teams.
- Anyone with link: login is not required to run the data app.
Users you share with can run the data app. They do not need access to the workflow itself.
Find and run a data app
The Data apps page lists the data apps you can run.
The page shows the data apps that belong to your teams and the data apps shared with you. By default, every member of a team sees the team's data apps. Users with Manage access to a data app can restrict who can run it, see Share the data app.
Data apps shared with any signed-in user or through a link don't appear on the page unless they are also shared with you directly.
Data apps are grouped by category. Each card shows the name, category, team, and description of the data app. Select a card to run the data app.
The category and description come from the deployment settings, so choose them to help your users find the right data app.
Update the data app
Deployments are pinned to a specific workflow version. To update what the app runs:
- Make your changes to the workflow.
- Create a new version.
- Open the deployment settings and select the new version.
The app immediately runs the updated workflow on the next execution.
