Instance setup

After you receive access

When Knime provisions your instance, you receive an instance URL and either Keycloak admin credentials or confirmation that SSO is configured for your organization. Follow these steps to get your team up and running.

  1. Log in. Open your instance URL in a browser and sign in with the credentials Knime provided. If SSO is configured, your identity provider redirects you.
  2. Set up authentication. Add users through Keycloak self-service, or confirm SSO works for your organization. See Keycloak and SSO — OAuth, OIDC, SAML.
  3. Create a team. Teams own the spaces, execution contexts, secrets, and deployments associated with them. See Create a team.
  4. Create an execution context. Execution contexts define the compute resources available to a team for running workflows. Create at least one before deploying workflows. See Create an environment.
  5. Build and deploy a workflow. Create a workflow directly in your browser, then deploy it to verify your setup.

Configure your instance

After the initial setup, adapt your instance to your organization's needs. This section covers the following topics:

  • Hosting and network: choose how your instance connects to your networks. See Custom VPC and Private Link.
  • Data access: let workflows authenticate against Kerberos-secured services, such as Apache Hive or HDFS. Available on sovereign executors only. See Configure Kerberos.
  • AI models: control which AI providers K-AI uses and how Knime connects to them. See Bring your own model and GenAI Gateway.
