Install a third-party database driver plug-in ​

Some databases require a JDBC driver with a special license that prevents KNIME from bundling it automatically. For these databases, KNIME provides separate installable plug-ins.

The affected databases are:

  • Oracle Database
  • Microsoft SQL Server (official Microsoft driver)
  • Amazon Redshift
  • Vertica

Before you begin ​

  • You have KNIME Analytics Platform installed and running.
  • You have network access to the KNIME update site, or the plug-in is available offline.

Install the plug-in ​

Install the driver plug-in through the KNIME Extensions installer.

  1. Go to File → Install KNIME Extensions.
  2. In the Install dialog, search for the driver you need (for example, Oracle, MS SQL Server, Redshift, or Vertica).
  3. Select the plug-in from the results.
  4. If the plug-in does not appear in the list, it is already installed.
  5. Follow the installation wizard to complete the installation.
  6. Restart KNIME Analytics Platform.

After restarting, open the configuration of the dedicated connector node for your database. The installed driver appears in the driver list.
